Tales from the Hill: Autumn 2025
22 October 2025
As autumn is in fulls swing, the familiar sound of roaring stags echoing through the glens coming to an end, a timeless reminder of the red deer rut and the rhythm of life on the hill. Each year brings its own character, and 2025 has been no exception.
The rut began late September, with activity building quickly across the estate. Stags have shown good condition this year, a reflection of healthy summer grazing and careful management. The hill team has worked tirelessly, balancing the day-to-day demands of stalking with ongoing conservation goals, ensuring that our deer population remains strong, sustainable, and in harmony with the wider environment.
Collaboration remains central to this work. Through our involvement with the Morvern Deer Management Group, we continue to share data, knowledge, and resources with neighbouring estates, supporting wider habitat improvement and responsible herd management across the peninsula.
As the season winds down, the hills begin to quiet once again. The team takes pride in another successful and responsible season on the hill, one that continues Kingairloch’s long tradition of working with the land and its wildlife with care and respect.
