Volunteer Seasonal Gardener

Are you a nature enthusiast with a passion for hands-on experiences in a breathtaking coastal highland estate? Kingairloch Estate, spanning 14,000 acres on the northeast corner of the Morvern peninsula, welcomes individuals eager to immerse themselves in the nature that our unique location provides. Our estate boasts a main residence, self-catering properties, and extensive hill grounds with deer stalking, a restaurant, a productive walled garden, a working livestock farm with a small herd of Highland cattle, and more!

As a Seasonal Helper at Kingairloch Estate, you will work closely with our knowledgeable gardener (and others from time to time) and participate in various activities within the walled garden and the wider estate grounds. Gain hands-on experience in raising vegetable and flower plants, from sowing seeds to transplanting, caring for crops, weeding and cutting grass as well as engaging in general estate works. By mutual agreement, there’s an option to extend the working season to assist the sporting department during autumn and winter if this is of interest to the candidate.

In return the estate will offer you an attractive package including newly refurbished accommodation in this wonderful location, and allowances. Training will be provided for all roles undertaken. Being situated in a remote area, a driving license is necessary, and lone travellers are encouraged to possess a certain level of resilience. For those without personal transportation, access to an estate vehicle is available.

Our Seasonal Helpers typically work around 6 hours per day, 5 days a week, with regular breaks and opportunities to explore the area included. The estate and its surroundings offer stunning beauty, with the peninsula itself often hailed as the best-kept secret in Scotland. Kingairloch is a haven for diverse wildlife, birds, and flora throughout the year. Situated on Loch a’ Choire, the estate provides opportunities for wild swimming, kayaking, and canoeing. Additional outdoor pursuits such as walking and mountain biking are easily accessible.
